Employment & Economic Development
The Employment & Economic Development program supports the development and prosperity of The CMM member Bands, Mi'kmaw businesses and entrepreneurs. The program is a resource for assistance with human resources, business planning, training and proposal writing. Employment & Economic Development works to address procurement, employment equity and other related issues for member First Nations.
The Employment & Economic Development Program also provides human resource assistance to The CMM and its member bands. This includes developing position mandates, recruiting assistance and participating in the interview process.
Through this program, The CMM hosts the Mi'kmaq Nova Scotia First Net website linking all communities to information regarding:

The CMM, along with Michelin North America (Canada) Inc., the provincial and federal governments, participates in the Aboriginal Workforce Participation Initiative (AWPI). AWPI aims to engage First Nations members in the labour force as well as assists employers in recruiting Aboriginal employees. Michelin confirmed their commitment to AWPI by formalizing an agreement with Nova Scotia First Nations in 2003. As a result, several First Nations individuals have been recruited by the company. Others will benefit by federal/provincial training opportunities to prepare First Nations candidates for employment in an industrial environment.
